December 7, 1941

Pearl Harbor, and it's place in history, runs deep in my family. My Grandfather was working a crane in the shipyards that day. My mom and her family ran into the hills, still in their church clothes, when the attack began. My dad's family went into the hills too. As kids, both of my parents witnessed the events of that day unfold.

The memories my mom and dad have, and those of my aunts and uncles of that fateful day are still very vivid after all these years. And in our family, December 7th holds a special meaning to us as a family and as citizens of this country.

The buckle pictured above was given to me by my uncle who also worked at the shipyards at Pearl (though he was with his family that day). It holds a place of great respect and pride in my life.
