While at Woodburn I noticed that the kids there were always in motion. They were riding bikes, or skating, or just running around playing. The older ones were driving golf carts, working in the pits or on the starting line as part of the crew.
It was cool seeing them being active and involved experiencing life and not glued to a phone or video game that always seems to be omnipresent with most youth. It reminded me of what kids were like when I was growing up without those things.
The little guy in the pictures must have been about 3 years old and he had me mesmerized with his tenacity and focus. As I watched him I couldn’t get over how into it he was. He would grab a wrench and try it on a bolt. If it didn’t fit he would grab another one and try again. Of course, none of them did and although he really wasn’t working on the bike, in his mind he was. Can you imagine the childhood memories he’s going to have?
