The drags

We're heading down to Woodburn next weekend for the Harley drags. It's the one race that I look forward to every year. The strip is one of the older and more intimate tracks in the NW and has a cool long-ago vibe to it that for me, conjures up the simpler days of the golden age of drag racing. Another reason I like coming to this track is the people. Woodburn is less than an hour from Portland ( very blue collar ) and is surrounded by vast tracts of farm land and the good folks who ride in on their flatties, knuckles, pans, shovels (and yes, they still do ride 'em), evos, and twin cams are hard working middle-class people who dig motorcycles and racing.

Can't wait to get this work week behind me so I can be hanging on the fence inhaling the sweet smell of burning rubber and fighting back the tears from the sting of nitro while watching those crazy-ass cats launch down the track at a kabillion miles per hour.

Man, now that's livin'.
