Here is my pride and source of major aggravation, The Atomic Bitch. I rode Harleys for many years prior to owning Miss Bitch, but one day I woke up and it wasn't fun anymore. I was done.
At the time I had a '82 Wide Glide that my wife, Gail, and I bought brand new when we got married and over the years it evolved into a 98" stroker built by motorman Craig Walters, and with the help of my very good friend and mentor, Le Roy, went with a Paughco rigid frame. It was what I had always wanted in a bike but it wasn't enough to sway me to keep riding and I eventually sold it.
Gail said that I would one day regret selling it but I wouldn't listen. I truly believed that I'd never throw a leg over a bike again. Well damned if she wasn't right. I began to miss that bike and I even tried to buy it back from the dude but was told that it had been stolen (more likely it was sold for crank). Anyway, a few years ago the urge to get back on two wheels took over and I was scouring the net for a bike. I came across the Bitch in the swap meet section over on The Horse site. It was listed as "a running basket." Meaning that while it ran ok it would need work, which was fine with me because I knew I'd be tearing it down anyway.
It's been a good bike but the motor is tired so it's out getting freshened it up. Future plans for The Atomic Bitch includes switching over to a jockey shift and making her a rigid. Say what you will, but I really miss that old shovel of mine and I'll be riding the Stampede within the next couple of years so rigid it is. Should be fun...
